ABHANDEN, Chicago based cellist Chris Wild’s debut album on Navona Records, features six compositions for solo cello and small ensemble that stretch across multiple decades and concepts of style. Focusing on the unification of the diverse aesthetics of contemporary music, ABHANDEN seeks to demonstrate the shared ends of expression these six pieces exhibit.

ABHANDEN, German for “lost,” presents compositions that explore the human condition and move stylistically from Cambodian folk songs to soundscapes featuring live instruments. The compositions themselves speak to the beauty of memory, the discovery of innovative sounds, the fight to keep from being lost, and the human condition.
