CRAIG RUTENBERG

 

Pianist and opera coach Craig Rutenberg is a native of New Haven, Connecticut. He  was Director of Music Administration at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City from 2006-2015.

 

Rutenberg studied with John Wustman, Martin Isepp, Pierre Bernac and Miriam Solovieff.

 

In addition to the MET, he has been associated with the music staffs of the Opera-Comique, IRCAM, Glyndebourne, Houston Grand Opera, and the San Francisco Opera.

 

He  gives masterclasses in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Zurich, Los Angeles, Santa Fe and Chautauqua in the summer.

 

In recent season, Rutenberg has appeared in performance with Christine Brewer, Diana Damrau, Susanne Mentzer, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Paulo Szot and Thomas Hampson

 

He has also completed his recordings of the portraits for piano written by his old friend and mentor, Virgil Thomson.
