The Tanglewood Music Festival has long been a summertime staple in the music world, a venue jam-packed with notable artists and performers and great music for its guests. This year, numerous PARMA artists are seeing their works performed on the festival stage.

Hilary Tann

Composer Hilary Tann at the pianoWelsh-born composer Hilary Tann brought her 2020 release AND THE SNOW DID LIE to the Berkshires this year on July 2. Broken into three movements, each depicts a season in the bleak northern landscape, inspired by a series of illustrations from the classic French-Canadian novel, Le Survenant. While Tann’s performance has already passed, there are a number of other PARMA artist’s works being featured this August.

Eleanor Alberga

Eleanor Alberga
Following her appearance at last year’s festival, Eleanor Alberga returns to Tanglewood on August 6, this time with her String Quartet No. 2. Its single movement span presents traditional forms embedded in a truly forward-thinking piece, bringing out Alberga’s great skills as an artist and composer. Cited as “one of the most brilliant scherzos we have ever played” by the piece’s commissioners, the Maggini Quartet, Alberga’s String Quartet hits the stage at Seiji Ozawa Hall at 6 p.m.

Carlos Simon and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon

Inspired by the work of author Isabel Wilkerson and brought to life through the voice of a string quartet, composer Carlos Simon’s Warmth from Other Suns will be performed on the Ozawa Hall stage at 10 a.m. on August 7. Also presented in the program is Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon’s Shakespeare Sonnets, both of which will feature violin soloist Yevgeny Kutik.
