John Alan Rose

 

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia (USA), John Alan Rose has been performing as pianist and composer since the age of 14. Acclaimed European pianist Andreas Haefliger once played from John’s sketchbook and was so taken with his music that he predicted his future as a composer/performer. In November of 2015, John performed his piano concerto with the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc, Czech, followed by a collaboration with the same orchestra and the talents of cellist JungWon Choi, violinist Simeon Simeonov, and soprano Sing Rose, narrator Tyler Bunch, and conductor Miran Vaupotic on this major recording project of his four concerti (cello, piano, violin and voice). His music has also been performed by the Dubrovnik Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra (Russia), and the Lugansk Philharmonic (Ukraine). Guitarist Diego Campagna selected John’s solo guitar piece “The Children Are Playing” for inclusion on his new guitar cd, featuring the piece as well on his American tour.

 

In addition to large scale orchestral works, John has also composed a full length opera, major choral work, and many pieces for chamber ensemble and piano solo. At the age of eighteen he played the complete Chopin Etudes in concerts throughout Ohio and West Virginia. He has studied piano at Duquesne University, Indiana University and Baldwin-Wallace University; teachers include David Allen Wehr, Robert Mayerovitch, Dina Khudaiberdieva, Karen Shaw, and Frederic Chiu.

Jungwon Choi

 

Cellist JungWon Choi received her BM (Magna Cum Laude) from State University of New York, and MM from New England Conservatory and has studied with Peter Wiley, and Yeesun Kim. She is an Assistant Principal cellist of Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO), and Adjunct Professor at Korea Baptist Theological University. She also teaches at Chungnam National University.

 

She won numerous competitions in Korea when she was young, and made a solo debut with DPO at age 17. Then she moved to the States to continue her studies with Peter Wiley.

 

She was invited to participate in music festivals such as Manchester Music festival, the Summit Music festival, the Beethoven Institute at Mannes, and Tokyo String Quartet seminar. Her performance at Manchester was broadcasted live on TV.

 

Still an active chamber musician, she appeared in chamber concerts with Trio Soul, Ensemble With, and Hwaum chamber project from Oct. 2015.

 

 

 

Tyler Bunch

 

Tyler Bunch is an actor/director, puppeteer and voice over artist who has lived and worked in the NYC area for over 20 years. You and your youngsters have probably seen or heard him on many television programs and film projects for Disney, PBS, HBO, and others. Sing Rose

 

Distinguished soprano Sing Rose regularly performs Opera, Lied and Oratorio, and her concert repertoire ranges from early music to contemporary works.  She has captured audiences with her stellar performances internationally and nationally after winning First prize at the Los Angeles International Franz Liszt Vocal Competition in 2006. In  March 2016 she and her husband, composer / pianist John Alan Rose toured China performing concerts of piano / voice repertoire. In May 2016 she sang as soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in Wheeling, West Virginia. She performed a selection of arias with the Moravian Philharmonic in November 2015. In May 2012 she made her debut with the Dubrovnik Philharmonic in Europe, where she performed as soloist two world premieres: “Ticket to the Theater” and  “Lullaby,” by J. A. Rose, and was the soloist in Mozart's  “Exsultate Jubilate.”  In October of 2012 she appeared in a lead role of the premiere of the opera Rumpelstiltskin by John Alan Rose, in the first public performance of Opera America's new theater in New York City.  She was the featured artist in a program of Franz Liszt Songs in New York City (February 2012).

 

She was invited to perform the music of Mozart, appearing as soloist with the Lugansk Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011. She also participated at a gala concert at Italian TV in Ragusa  performing arias of The Barber of Seville. In recent seasons, she was heard with music of American composers such as George Crumb, "Lux Aeterna," in collaboration with composer Dary-John Mizelle and conductor Joel Thome, who called her a favorite vocalist. Inspired by her voice, composers Dary-John Mizelle and John Alan Rose, have written several works for her.

 

A native of Korea, Sing grew up as a prodigy in a family of musicians of opera and pop/gospel. At early age, she appeared on Korean television and won First prize at the Korean National Music Competition in Taegu at age sixteen. She pursued her music studies in the United States, and received her Master's degree at SUNY Purchase Opera Department, where she sang among others the roles of Lauletta in "Gianni Schicchi," Suor Genovieffa in "Suor Angelica" and Pamina in "The Magic Flute."

 

 

Moni Simeonov

 

A native of Bulgaria, Moni Simeonov began playing the violin at age 5, and ten years later, came to the United States on a full scholarship to the Idyllwild Arts Academy in California. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at USC’s Thornton School of Music where he studies with Midori and serves as Adjunct Instructor of Violin and Chamber Music. An active member of the IRIS Chamber Orchestra, Mr. Simeonov also performs with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Opera, Master Chorale, Ensemble San Francisco, and serves as the acting Concertmaster for the Sacramento Philharmonic. His doctorate studies include minor fields in Viola Performance, Schenkerian Analysis, Japanese Language, as well an emphasis on the interpretation of Balkan folk music. On tour and in Los Angeles, Mr. Simeonov dedicates considerable time and energy to community engagement work and to musical activities and presentations for young people. For the last five seasons, Moni has performed and coached alongside Midori for her Orchestra Residencies Program American and International tours. In 2012, he became the Director of the program.

 

Moni’s first CD recording was a result of his winning the Idyllwild Arts Academy Concerto Competition. Upon graduation from Idyllwild, he was named Most Outstanding Musician of his class. He continued his education at the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Zvi Zeitlin on full scholarship, earned first prize at the school’s concerto competition, and was awarded a Performer’s Certificate. While at Eastman, Moni regularly performed on the school’s Antonio Stradivari of 1714. He also served as concertmaster for the Eastman Symphony, Philharmonia, and Opera Orchestras. Having earned his Artist Diploma from Yale University, Mr. Simeonov completed his Masters in Music there with Ani Kavafian and was concertmaster for the Yale Philharmonia Orchestra and New Music Ensemble. Following Yale, Mr. Simeonov earned his Graduate Certificate Degree from USC’s Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Midori and received the Outstanding Student Award in May 2009. To supplement and enhance his collegiate experiences, Mr. Simeonov has attended several summer performance festivals, including Tanglewood, the Music Academy of the West, Pacific Music Festival, the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Oregon Bach Festival, and Atlantic Music Festival. Also in the summers, Moni serves as a violin and chamber music faculty at University of Maine’s Chamber Music Institute.

 

Mr. Simeonov has concertized and taught around the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. His recordings have been archived by PBS, NPR, KUSC, Bulgarian National Radio and TV, as well as Japanese Broadcasting Company—NHK. Upcoming tour destinations include Brazil, South Africa, Lebanon, and the Czech Republic. Past chamber music collaborations have involved members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Tokyo and Ying String Quartets, as well as Jerome Lowenthal, Giora Schmidt, Joseph Silverstein, Zvi Zeitlin and Midori.

She was invited to participate in music festivals such as Manchester Music festival, the Summit Music festival, the Beethoven Institute at Mannes, and Tokyo String Quartet seminar. Her performance at Manchester was broadcasted live on TV.

 

Still an active chamber musician, she appeared in chamber concerts with Trio Soul, Ensemble With, and Hwaum chamber project from Oct. 2015.

 

Tyler Bunch

 

Tyler Bunch is an actor/director, puppeteer and voice over artist who has lived and worked in the NYC area for over 20 years. You and your youngsters have probably seen or heard him on many television programs and film projects for Disney, PBS, HBO, and others. Sing Rose

 

Distinguished soprano Sing Rose regularly performs Opera, Lied and Oratorio, and her concert repertoire ranges from early music to contemporary works.  She has captured audiences with her stellar performances internationally and nationally after winning First prize at the Los Angeles International Franz Liszt Vocal Competition in 2006. In  March 2016 she and her husband, composer / pianist John Alan Rose toured China performing concerts of piano / voice repertoire. In May 2016 she sang as soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in Wheeling, West Virginia. She performed a selection of arias with the Moravian Philharmonic in November 2015. In May 2012 she made her debut with the Dubrovnik Philharmonic in Europe, where she performed as soloist two world premieres: “Ticket to the Theater” and  “Lullaby,” by J. A. Rose, and was the soloist in Mozart's  “Exsultate Jubilate.”  In October of 2012 she appeared in a lead role of the premiere of the opera Rumpelstiltskin by John Alan Rose, in the first public performance of Opera America's new theater in New York City.  She was the featured artist in a program of Franz Liszt Songs in New York City (February 2012).

 

She was invited to perform the music of Mozart, appearing as soloist with the Lugansk Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011. She also participated at a gala concert at Italian TV in Ragusa  performing arias of The Barber of Seville. In recent seasons, she was heard with music of American composers such as George Crumb, "Lux Aeterna," in collaboration with composer Dary-John Mizelle and conductor Joel Thome, who called her a favorite vocalist. Inspired by her voice, composers Dary-John Mizelle and John Alan Rose, have written several works for her.

 

A native of Korea, Sing grew up as a prodigy in a family of musicians of opera and pop/gospel. At early age, she appeared on Korean television and won First prize at the Korean National Music Competition in Taegu at age sixteen. She pursued her music studies in the United States, and received her Master's degree at SUNY Purchase Opera Department, where she sang among others the roles of Lauletta in "Gianni Schicchi," Suor Genovieffa in "Suor Angelica" and Pamina in "The Magic Flute."

 

Moni Simeonov

 

A native of Bulgaria, Moni Simeonov began playing the violin at age 5, and ten years later, came to the United States on a full scholarship to the Idyllwild Arts Academy in California. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at USC’s Thornton School of Music where he studies with Midori and serves as Adjunct Instructor of Violin and Chamber Music. An active member of the IRIS Chamber Orchestra, Mr. Simeonov also performs with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Opera, Master Chorale, Ensemble San Francisco, and serves as the acting Concertmaster for the Sacramento Philharmonic. His doctorate studies include minor fields in Viola Performance, Schenkerian Analysis, Japanese Language, as well an emphasis on the interpretation of Balkan folk music. On tour and in Los Angeles, Mr. Simeonov dedicates considerable time and energy to community engagement work and to musical activities and presentations for young people. For the last five seasons, Moni has performed and coached alongside Midori for her Orchestra Residencies Program American and International tours. In 2012, he became the Director of the program.

 

Moni’s first CD recording was a result of his winning the Idyllwild Arts Academy Concerto Competition. Upon graduation from Idyllwild, he was named Most Outstanding Musician of his class. He continued his education at the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Zvi Zeitlin on full scholarship, earned first prize at the school’s concerto competition, and was awarded a Performer’s Certificate. While at Eastman, Moni regularly performed on the school’s Antonio Stradivari of 1714. He also served as concertmaster for the Eastman Symphony, Philharmonia, and Opera Orchestras. Having earned his Artist Diploma from Yale University, Mr. Simeonov completed his Masters in Music there with Ani Kavafian and was concertmaster for the Yale Philharmonia Orchestra and New Music Ensemble. Following Yale, Mr. Simeonov earned his Graduate Certificate Degree from USC’s Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Midori and received the Outstanding Student Award in May 2009. To supplement and enhance his collegiate experiences, Mr. Simeonov has attended several summer performance festivals, including Tanglewood, the Music Academy of the West, Pacific Music Festival, the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Oregon Bach Festival, and Atlantic Music Festival. Also in the summers, Moni serves as a violin and chamber music faculty at University of Maine’s Chamber Music Institute.

 

Mr. Simeonov has concertized and taught around the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. His recordings have been archived by PBS, NPR, KUSC, Bulgarian National Radio and TV, as well as Japanese Broadcasting Company—NHK. Upcoming tour destinations include Brazil, South Africa, Lebanon, and the Czech Republic. Past chamber music collaborations have involved members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Tokyo and Ying String Quartets, as well as Jerome Lowenthal, Giora Schmidt, Joseph Silverstein, Zvi Zeitlin and Midori.
