Aria is dedicated to the memory of a long-time friend from my high-school days, Susan Geoffrion, who died suddenly in the summer of 2015. Sue played saxophone and part of my idea was to honor her through the sax quartet. Aria was also named so because the electronic background track is sourced from Glenn Gould's 1955 recoding of the "Aria" from Bach's Goldberg Variations.  — Elliott Miles McKinley
