LAUREN SNOUFFER, Soprano

 

A graduate of the Juilliard School, Rice University, and the Houston Grand Opera Studio and winner of a 2013 Sara Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Music Foundation and a Richard F. Gold Career Grant bestowed by Houston Grand Opera, American soprano Lauren Snouffer has bowed at Houston Grand Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Théâtre du Capitole, and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Tanglewood Music Festival Orchestra.

 

Her diverse array of opera roles span from Phénice and La Gloire in Lully’s Armide and Clorinda in Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda to Agnès in George Benjamin’s Written on Skin and Florestine in John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles.

 

Lauren Snouffer is sought after by leading conductors and directors for her expressive and luminous soprano and for the intensity and refinement of her dramatic characterizations.  Collaborations have paired her with Marin Alsop, Arin Arbus, George Benjamin, Alan Gilbert, Nicholas McGegan, George Petrou, Matthias Pintscher, Patrick Summers, Gary Thor Wedow, and Francesca Zambello among others.
